An insulated tank (2) is provided in circuit with the cooling system of a liquid-cooled i.c. engine (1) to receive hot coolant when the engine is stopped, and return it to the engine when the engine is re-started to alleviate problems of cold starts. The tank (2) is divided into two chambers (2', 2'') by a piston (4), and a reversible pump (3) is provided for transferring hot coolant between the engine and the chamber (2'), and cold coolant between the chamber (2'') and the engine. <IMAGE> |
