A net container (3) for rooting plants, seeds, bulbs or seedlings, made of an inert and/or biodegradable material open at the top and containing a plurality of openings in the sides and bottom thereof. The size of the container is designed to enable easy shipment and transplanting of seedlings growing in the net container (3). Extensive use is made of soilless growth media (17) both in the net container (3) as the media for initial plant growth and in a larger container (7) for sustained plant growth. The larger soilless media (17) is molded in two halves (17, 18) so that the net rooting container (3) may be easily inserted therein and held in place by molded flaps (5, 5'). Because the flaps (5, 5') do not completely cover the net container (3), the young plant may continue growing therein and suffer little to no shock in the transplanting process. |
