In this arrangement rotary valves are fitted in the cylinder head so that the gas forces act on a plurality of surfaces of the rotary slide valves. In order to reduce the load on the rotary-valve bearing, the rotary valves are rigidly connected to one another so that the forces acting on the slides can at least partially cancel one another out.
