To produce formwork structures which serve, for example, as representation models, panels of thermoplastic material which, with the aid of heat, can be butt-welded, bent and cut are used as the working material. If appropriate, releasable connecting means can also be attached to the panels along certain connecting lines. As a result, a freely designable sheet-like structure or a lightweight hollow body is obtained. This result can easily be altered by cutting out and exchanging individual sheet portions.
