摘要 Mg is recovered from vapour comprising Mg and CO at a temp. above that at which the reaction occurs. The vapour is contacted with liq. Mg at 800-1100 deg. C so that liq. Mg is vaporised, and the vapour is instantaneously cooled to below 1500 deg. C to minimise back oxidation of Mg. The vapour is then cooled to condense Mg. Specifically, the vapour is contacted with a molten flux compsn. in order to condense Mg. The vapour is cooled to the temp. at which back oxidation is prevented at a much faster rate than previously as heat is removed by the required heat of vaporisation of the liq. Mg.
