MOLD FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING OF METAL

PURPOSE:To obtain an ingot of uniform casting surfaces having no oscillation marks by applying high frequency oscillations of specific frequencies to a slitlike groove part that divides a mold to the surfaces in contact with molten metal and the surfaces in contact with a cooling water box. CONSTITUTION:A body 1 of this mold is of the construction wherein a slitlike groove 5 dividing said body to molten metal casting surfaces 7 and cooling water box surfaces 11 is provided from the top end of said body down to the position considerably deeper than that corresponding to meniscus. Thence, an oscillation transmission plate 2 is connected to the mold position of the surfaces 7. The 5-50kHz high frequency oscillations generated from an oscillator 3 propagate through the plate 2 and oscillate the thin mold positions of the surfaces 7.
