PURPOSE:To apply sharp printing even to paper having a coarse surface, by thermally transferring an ink image formed by using a microcapsule, wherein heat-meltable ink is sealed in a thermally adhesive container, to a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A large number of the heat generating resister elements formed to a thermal head 13 are selectively heated to form a desired thermal latent image on a carrier film 11, and microcapsules 12 are adhered to said latent image to develop an ink image 14. Next, the carrier film 11 is superposed to a recording medium 16 and,, when both of them are passed between a heating roller 15 and a pressure roller 17, the microcapsules 12 of the ink image 14 are melted to fix printing 18 having a desired pattern to the recording medium 16. Since each of the microcapsules 12 is constituted so that the container 19 thereof has thermal adhesiveness and the ink material 20 thereof has non- compatibility with respect to the carrier film 11, the microcapsules 12 of the ink image 14 efficiently constitute the printing 18. By this method, sharp printing can be effected even to paper having a coarse surface. |
