DEVICE FOR AN INSTALLATION OF A QUARTZ TUBE IN A DEVICE FOR CONCENTRATION OF MINERAL ACIDS

A device is disclosed for installing long quartz tubes in apparatus for concentrating mineral acids. The resulting apparatus is particularly usefulfor concentrating and purifying sulphuric acid. The novel installation means includes a double-walled fire-resistant tube unit in which the quartz tube may be placed with play between it and the inner wall on the tube unit. The space between the double walls of the tube unit form an outer flow channel for heatinggases. The space between the inner wall of the tube unit and the outer wall of the quartz tube form an inner flow channel, also intended for the passage and heating of gases. These flow channels are connected with each other via holes in the inner wall of the tube unit adjacent the lower end thereof. It will be seen that the outer flow channel provides for a flow direction opposite to that of the inner flow channel. The installed quartz tube, at its lower end, rests with the major portion of its weight upon seals by means of a shoulder surface arranged on the quartz tube. The upper end of the quartz tube is transversely fixed by means of a fastening unit.
