METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING A RAW MATERIAL CODE ON MANUFACTURED ARTICLES A method for providing a raw material code on paperboard carton blanks is disclosed which includes the steps of applying to the blanks a raw material group code identifying the raw material used by a manufacturing facility over a predetermined time period and applying to the blanks a raw material subgroup code identifying the specific roll of raw material used during such time period. Also disclosed is a high-speed rotary-type imprinting apparatus whose shifting mechanism includes a rotating ratchet and wheel mechanism and an electrical brake.
