摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance, by cultivating a microorganism, capable of assimilating lactic acid and belonging to the genus Corynebacterium, etc., and capable of assimilating lactic acid and producing L-glutamic acid, in the presence of a microorgnism, belonging to the genus Lactobacillus, and capable of producing the lactic acid in a culture medium containing whey as a main raw material. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism, belonging to the genus Corynebacterium, Brevibacterium or Microbacterium, and capable of assimilating lactic acid and producing L-glutamic acid, e.g. Corynebacterium glutamicum, Brevibacterium flavum or Microbacterium ammoniaphilum, is cultivated in a culture medium containing whey or a material, containing lactose derived therefrom as a main raw material under aerobic conditions. The cultivation is carried out in the presence of one or more microorganisms, e.g. Lactobacillus bulgaricus or Streptococcus thermophilus, belonging to the genus Lactobacillus, Streptococcus, etc., and capable of producing the lactic acid from lactose.
