Aluminium monohydroxide salts of a carboxylic acid which are free from water of crystallisation and have the formula. or contain the structural element of the formula in which R is methyl or ethyl or R1 is the divalent group -CnH2n-, in which n is a number from 3 to 10, and which can also be in the form of a dimer, have an acicular to rod-shaped crystal form. They are suitable as fillers for polymers, especially as reinforcing fillers for elastomeric epoxide resins.
