PURPOSE:To uniformly coat ink on a whole width of a ribbon, by a method wherein a transfer roller, turning in a reverse direction to an advancing direction of an endless ribbon, is mounted in the running path of the endless ribbon for printer and independently from feed rollers. CONSTITUTION:After printing, an endless ribbon 1 passes around poles 17 and 14 and is pushed in a cassette 8 through the working of feed rollers 6 and 6'. Meanwhile, during the passage of the ribbon between the poles, ink is applied by means of a transfer roller 11 located between the poles 17 and 14. The transfer roller 11 feeds ink in an ink tank 9 in a way to press a member 4, having an excellent ink absorbability, through the force of a spring 5. It, however, turns in a reverse direction to an advancing direction of ink by means of a different drive source from that for the feed roller 6, and this permits the removal of paper dusts adhered to the ribbon and eliminates the need to always drive the roller 11 during a printing operation, which results in requiring a driving only at a point of time when ink decreases. |
