PURPOSE:To synthesize a picture effectively at a high speed by extracting a specific part of one of two pictures processed by run-length coding, and then inserting it into a prescribed part of the other picture. CONSTITUTION:This invention relates to a picture synthesizer which synthesezes two main and subordinate picture signals into one picture, Picture data on a specific are (rectangular part indicated by coordinates X0,Y0,X1, and Y1) of the subordinate picture B' is extracted and then inserted into a specific area of the main picture A', thus synthesizing a new picture. Main picture data on the remaining area other than said specific area in a main picture memory 8a and subordinate picture data on the specific area in a subordinate pictrure memory 8b are written in corresponding areas of a composite picture memory 8c to per- form picture composition. When said main picture data is written in the memory 8c, the amount of the data is counted at a part 25 and when a corresponding address reaches the specific area (e.g. X0 and Y0), the subordinate picture data is written in the specific area of the memory 8C. |
