PURPOSE:To prevent a smear and blooming to form area of the opposite conduction type on a semiconductor substrate of the 1st conduction type, and constituting a photoelectric converting elements group and a device which reads signals out of the photoelectric converting elements group. CONSTITUTION:While forming P-N junction with a substrate semiconductor 26, two P type areas 27 and 28 differing in junction depth are formed. Further, a P layer 29 connecting electrically with a channel stop P<+> impurity layer is provided on the main surface of an N type photoelectric conversion part 19 formed on the P type area 27 having a shallow junction. When signal charge stored in the photoelectric conversion area 19 reaches a constant amount, charge generate by the photoelectric conversion part 19 to the constant amount is transferred to the substrate semiconductor 26 through the P type area 27. |
