PURPOSE:To improve the capability of removing blooming by discharging blooming charge which overflows from a photodiode onto a vertical transmission line by utilizing a total horizontal flyback period except part of it. CONSTITUTION:A pulse voltage is applied to a vertical pulse input line by a scanning pulse generated by a vertical scanning circuit 34 to transfer signal charge stored in a photodiode 31 to a vertical transmission line 35. Then, the signal charge transferred to the vertical transmission line 35 is transferred to a connection part S through a storage part N and at the same time, it is also transferred to a horizontal shift register 312 through a transfer gate 317. The signal charge transferred to the horizontal shift register 312 is further transferred toward a signal output part 313 and then read. After the transfer of the signal charge to the connection part S ends, gate input lines 37, 38, 311, and 314 are turned on again to discharge a major part of blooming charge overflows from the photodiode throughout a succeeding horizontal scanning period to a sweep drain line 319. |
