PURPOSE:To finish and work a shaft surface precisely by vibrating a nonmetallic frictional piece having large rigidity in the axial direction while contacting the frictional piece with the shaft surface being turned and feeding polishing grains into the frictional surface of the frictional piece. CONSTITUTION:A shaft 1 to be finished and worked is turned in the arrow A direction, the frictional piece 4 is vibrated in the axis direction of the shaft 1 by means of a vibration source 5, and the frictional piece 4 is contacted with the surface of the shaft 1. The polishing grains are supplied to the contacting surfaces of the shaft 1 and the frictional piece 4 together with a fluid from a supply pipe 8, the polishing grains are fed between the contacting surfaces through the revolution of the shaft 1, and the surface of the shaft 1 is lapping-worked by the grains. |
