PURPOSE:To shorten a repair work time, by drawing up a submarine cable constituting a unit cable which has provided a connecting part easily attachably and detachably, on both ends of the submarine cable of 1 piece length, onto board a ship when repairing, and switching and connecting the unit cable. CONSTITUTION:A submarine cable to which a submarine optical cable 1 of 1 piece length, having an attachalbe and detachable connecting part 2 on both its ends has been connected is laid. When repairing, a faulty unit cable 3' is searched by a laying vessel 3, is drawn up onto board the laying vessel 3 by a wreck releaser 4, the conncting part 2 of both the ends is detached, waterproof and pressure resistance treatment is performed to the terminal of a unit cable 1 having no fault, a display buoy 5 is connected to it, and it is sunk to the bottom of the sea. Subsequently, a new unit cable is carried, is connected to the connecting part with the display buoy 5 on board the ship, and is laid on the bottom of the sea. Since the unit cable 1 is switched by the connecting part 2, the work time is shortened. |
