The prosthesis (1) has upper and lower prosthesis elements (2, 3) provided with respective horizontal upper and lower disk shaped plates (20, 30) that are made of biocompatible and radio transparent material, where the prosthesis is made of polyaryletheretherketone. The plate (20) has a lower surface (22) that is directly provided in contact with an upper surface (32) of the element (3) without an intermediate part. The plates have respective sets of projecting sections and bulged upper and lower surfaces (21, 31) that are contacted with a vertebral body of an adjacent vertebra.
