PURPOSE:To improve the property of running and that of contact with a head by forming fine grooves in the magnetic film surface of a vertical magnetic metallic film in its running direction. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic metallic powder is stuck on a base surface by vapor deposition, ion plating, sputtering, etc., to form the magnetic film surface of a vertical magnetic metallic thin film, wherein shallow linear grooves of favorably <=0.1mum are formed in its running direction by, for example, abrasive grains, etc. Before the formation of the magnetic metallic thin film, many linear grooves having prescribed depth are formed in the base surface in its running direction and on them, the vertical magnetic metallic film may be formed in a usual method. |
