Joints of an elec. cable were coated with polyethyiene by wrapping the cables with an uniaxially drawn PE sheet, coating the inside of the overlapped ends of 1 with liq. peroxides(3), inserting a tape(3) contg. peroxides and PE without crosslinking between the 2 ends, fixing the overlapped ends with a heat-resistant adhesive tape(4), pressing to bond the overlapped ends, and heating to shrink PE. A butt welding method was described also.
