PURPOSE:A composition for the oral cavity having improved astriction and feeling in use, obtained by blending a specific compound with an amphoteric electrolyte selected from an amino acid, its salt, and an amphoteric surface active agent, making the pH of a composition >= the isoelectric point of the amphoteric electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A composition for the oral cavity comprising a compound (e.g., meso-inositol hexaphosphate, zinc paraphenol sulfonate) having astriction is blended with 0.1-10wt% (preferably 0.3-5wt%) based on the total amount of an amphoteric electrolyte selected from an amino acid (e.g., glycine, alanine), its salt, protein (gelatin, albumin of the white) and an amphoteric surface active agent (e.g., alkyldimethyl betaine), and the pH of the composition is made >= the isoelectric point of the amphoteric electrolyte. The improved composition will not stimulate the mucosa in the oral cavity, has good feeling in use, and is preferably usable as toothpaste, cream for the affected part, etc. |
