PURPOSE:To drive work rolls stably, by providing a driving spindle between a work roll and a driving shaft and making the spindle follow-up the movement of roll in its axial direction. CONSTITUTION:The movement of an upper working roll 15 in its axial direction tends to cause a gap between the end surface of the roll 15 and a coupling 14. At this time, a sleeve 6 is slided in the direction of a roll 15 towards the roll 15, along a spline part 18a of an inner ring 18 through a top lever 4 and a slide block 1, and presses a coupling 4 against the end surface of the roll 15 through a spindle shaft 13 to elinate the gap instantly, by actuating a rod 12 of an hydraulic cylinder 7 to stretch. Therefore a driving force to the roll 15 from a driving shaft 17 is transmitted without troubles through a driving spindle 16. Said correcting action is performed in the same manner when the roll 15 is moved in opposite directions. |
