The invention relates to a braking device. Brake pads (12A and 12B) are designed to act on a brake disc (10) under the action of a pressure device which is arranged displaceably in a calliper (16) and is actuated via an actuating lever (31). The pressure device (20) has two parts (21 and 22), which are screwed together in such a way that the pressure device has a variable length to allow readjustment of the brake pads (12A and 12B). Part (21) of the pressure device (20) is prevented from rotating by a ring-shaped part (27), part (27) being arranged displaceably on pins (17) and surrounding part (21) with an internal hexagonal contour (28). Application areas are in braking devices, especially hand brakes, in particular those for motor vehicles. <IMAGE>
