PURPOSE:To enable to control the ignition energy with ease over a wide range and to avoid increase in the number of component parts of an ignition apparatus even if it is applied in a multicylinder engine. CONSTITUTION:An ignition signal distributing means 13 gives, for each igntion signal S1, signals SA-SD successively to the gates of respective thyristors 12A- 12D, and only a thyristor which is applied with the signal is turned ON. Resultantly, current is supplied to primary windings 7A-7D from a capacitor 9 and high voltages are produced at secondary windings 8A-8D. At the same time, a thyristor 5 is also turned ON by the ignition signal S1. Therefore, the high voltages produced at the secondary windings 8A-8D are impressed to ignition plugs 10A-10D and cause their dielectric breakdown. Subsequently, plasma ignition is caused by the charge of the capacitor 3. |
