PURPOSE:To make it possible to effect always favorable ink supply by discharging ink to a desired position by a desired amount at a desired time based on the detailed informations that a control device outputs upon receiving information from an indicating input device and a paper-pass detection device. CONSTITUTION:The number of printing per discharge of ink by an ink pump 4a is made a certain data as a combination of information in association of the basic information on the consumption of ink from experiments and others, and it is stored in the central processing unit 2. Then from the number of paper throughputs accumulated by a paper throughput detection device 3a and the conditions indicated by an indicating input device 1 the timing of ink supply that is suitable for the printing process in progress at the moment is calculated, and an instruction is set to the pump 4a at that time to actuate it. At the same time as this actuation an accumulated value by the signal from the detector 3a is cancelled and from that time signal from the detector 3a is accumulated again.
