Arranged in an axially displaceable manner in a housing (1) of a power amplifier is a working piston (5) which divides the housing (1) into a low-pressure chamber (6) and a working chamber (8). The working piston (5) is connected to a control housing (11) which projects from the housing part (3). The control housing (11) has passages (17, 18) which connect the low-pressure chamber (6) to the working chamber (8) via the valve arrangement (16). The control housing (11) has a metallic sleeve (22) which guides the control piston (15) at its small diameter and the reaction device (44) at its larger diameter. The working piston (5) is supported on the sleeve (22). A holding element (30) is arranged in the passage (17) connecting the valve device (16) to the working chamber (8). The holding element (30) engages in the groove (37) of the control piston (15) via slots arranged at the smaller diameter of the sleeve (22). The working piston (5) is connected to the control housing (11) and the sleeve (22) in a positive-locking manner, and at the same time the control piston (15) is limited in its axial movement. <IMAGE>
