PURPOSE:To obtain a novel polyprenyl compound suitable for a synthetic raw material for dricol which is used for a medicine or base for cosmetic, by extracting a specific polyprenol (ester) from a plant body with an organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:(A) A plant body containing a polyprenol (ester derivative) of formulaI(m is the number of trans isoprene units and 2; n is the number of cis isoprene units and an integer 11-19 is extracted with an organic solvent, e.g. chloroform, to give the extracted polyprenol (ester derivative). The resultant extract is then hydrolyzed, esterified or subjected to the ester interchange if necessary to give the aimed novel polyprenyl compound of formula II (A is hydroxyl group, acyloxy or halogen atom). A leaf of a ginkgo is preferrred as the plant body. |
