The invention relates to a locking device for protection circuit breakers. Such protection circuit breakers are normally operated via an additionally attached drive pushbutton which, however, allows the protection circuit breaker to be switched on again immediately after tripping. The locking device blocks the immediate capability to switch on again and requires that the emergency off pushbutton be deliberately reset to the original position, in that a locking slide (12) slides over the off plunger (21) of the protective circuit breaker (20). The locking slide (12) is arranged in a sliding manner in a frame (10) supporting the drive pushbutton (1) and, after the drive pushbutton (1) has been pulled back, is moved into the original position by means of a compression spring (13).
