The invention provides an underground pipeline apparatus which has a casing consisting of foam material which, owing to its strength, provides protection against mechanical damage and, at the same time, ensures sealing of the connection points between neighbouring pipe sections, to be precise with respect to the penetration of liquids into the pipeline from outside and with respect to the escape of liquid transported in the pipeline, with the result that the pipeline is also protected with respect to groundwater. A bed for the pipeline is formed from the foam material, which pipeline either bears exclusively on this bed or is additionally fixed in a predetermined position by mechanical devices.
