According to the invention, a conventional electric razor is provided with a suction device for the cut-off bristles, which advantageously includes a motor fan unit arranged inside the casing of the razor. This prevents the cut-off bristles from being flung out of the casing by the rapid action of the cutter and from being breathed into the air passages of the person shaving. A large number of respiratory illnesses can be prevented in this manner.
