In an applicator station of an apparatus for applying chemicals, such as dye liquors, printing liquors or pastes, finishing liquors or coating liquors, whether foamed or not, is arranged a rotating stencil or screen assigned, preferably at a distance, material-web guides (4), over which the material web is guided in order then to feed it tangentially to the stencil or screen or convey further the material web coming from the stencil or screen. The material web loops round part of the rotating stencil or screen (1) over a portion of the cylindrical surface. The material-web guide (4), which can consist of a roller or cylinder or of a guide crossmember, can be located on the run-in side of the stencil or screen and/or on the run-off side, preferably approximately at mid-height relative to the stencil or screen. At the same time, a relatively large part of the stencil surface or screen surface is covered by the material web and looped round by this, and the tangential contact line (B) of the material web (3), located on the run-in and/or run-off side, is preferably above the application region for the chemical application. The feed or further conveyance of the material web and therefore the release of the material web from the stencil or screen take place respectively in a region which has no pressing force, so that the material web can be attached with care and be released from the stencil or screen with care. <IMAGE>
