For the machining of the top and bottom sectional bars (4) of the frames of plastic or metal windows at the connecting point of a transom joining the two sectional bars (4), a drilling and milling machine is provided which has a sectional-bar holder (7) on a guideway (8) running transversely thereto. A drilling unit (9) with a horizontal drill (11) is arranged on one side of the sectional bar (4) to be machined; a milling unit (12) with three milling cutters (14, 17) arranged perpendicularly and next to one another is provided on the other side. The milling cutters (14, 17) are driven by a common milling motor (18). The sectional-bar holder (7) and the drilling unit (9) and the milling unit (12) are displaceable relative to one another in order to obtain a feed movement. A continuous drill hole (20) for a screw for fastening the transom is drilled with the drilling unit (9); a sealing lip (4c) and sealing-strip grooves (21) on either side of it are milled with the milling unit (12). <IMAGE>
