PURPOSE:To improve fuel consumption and starting property of an internal combustion engine, by sucking and compressing liquid fuel adhered to an intake passage by means of a pump, atomizing the liquid fuel by ejecting the same from an orifice, and distributing the atomized fuel uniformly at a fuel distributing section. CONSTITUTION:Liquid fuel, adhered to the bottom 5' of a manifold 5 of an intake passage from which it is divided to a plurality of cylinders, is collected at a small area by the function of gravity. The liquid fuel is sucked and compressed by a pump 6 and carried to an orifice 11 via a discharge passage 10. The liquid fuel is atomized into fine particles when it is ejected through the orifice 11, and is then distributed at a distributing section 12. Then, the atomized fuel is carried via distributing ports 13, 13 to nozzles 14 formed in each intake port. Here, since the capacity of the pump 6 is selected, in general, to be much greater than the amount of liquid fuel adhered to the intake passage, air supplied an air jet 9 is sucked and compressed by the pump 6, so that atomization of fuel at the nozzles 14 is promoted further through expansion of the compressed air. Further, if fuel flowing through the discharge passage 10 of the pump is ejected from the orifice 11 via helical grooves 21, atomization of fuel is further promoted, and at the same time, fuel distributing performance of the pump 6 can be improved. |
