PURPOSE:To improve the combustion quality and reduce the smoke of the engine by a method wherein a main nozzle is formed to branch at the midst of its passage into two directions toward a main chamber so as to open its main chamber side openings at nearly both sides of an auxiliary nozzle. CONSTITUTION:The main nozzle 4 is branched at the midst of its passage into two directions toward the main chamer 6 so as to open its main chamber side openings 4B at nearly both sides of the auxiliary nozzle 5. The combustion gas in a swirl chamber 1 is jetted through a bifurcate main nozzle 4 from the side of the auxiliary nozzle 5 into the main chamber 6 and induces gas flow along the cylindrical surface 8 of an engine cylinder. Said gas flow enhances the utilization rate of the air in the main chamber 6. The fuel flowed out of the swirl chamber 1 through the auxiliary nozzle 5 into the main chamber 6 is burnt in fresh air without being directly exposed to the gas jet stream with low oxygen concentration. In such a manner as described above, the combustion quality in the main chamber 6 is improved and consequently the smoke is reduced. |
