摘要 PURPOSE:To enable high-density high-sensitivity recording and reproduction with good thermal stability and high S/N, by providing on a base a recording layer comprising at least one inclusion compound of iodine. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer 2 comprising at least one inclusion compound of iodine is provided on a base 1. A host molecule for forming the inclusion compound with iodine is polyvinyl alcohol, cholic acid, alpha-cyclodextrin or amylose. Recording of information on the optical recording medium thus obtained is performed by irradiation with laser rays 5 having an oscillation wavelength in a near infrared or infrared region, such as gallium-aluminum- arsenic semiconductor laser (oscillation wavelength: 780 nm). Writing and reading of information may be carried out by laser with the same wavelength, or may be carried out by lasers with different wavelengths. The recording layer has little reciprocity failure, and can enhance the degree of utilization of high- illuminance energy rays such as laser light. Further, it is possible to record by use of laser light having an oscillation wavelength of at least 750 nm.
