PURPOSE:To relieve the influence exercised by a mirror image due to a horizontal plane existing between an object to be photographed and an infrared image pickup device, by mounting a polarizing plate, turning centering around an axis extending in a direction paralleling a collecting optical axis, to a collecting part. CONSTITUTION:A polarizing plate 17, spinning centering around an axis paralleling a collecting optical axis, and a drive motor 23 are mounted to a collecting part of an infrared image pickup device 1. If the polarizing plate 17 is turned so that a most amount of a component of light, polarized in a surface where radiating light from a target part 2 enters at right angle to the surfce 4 of the sea, is caused to transmit, the radiation light from the target part 2 is reflected by the surface 4 of the sea, and light, polarized in parallel to the surface 4 of the sea, is intercepted. This relieves the influence exercised by a mirror image due to the surface 4 of the sea. |
