PURPOSE:To enhance a corrosion resistance of a magnetic tape with maintenance of its high magnetic characteristic by forming an evaporated film made of a magnetic metal comprising Ni by 0.5-12.0wt%, Cu by 0.5-12.0wt% and Co for the rest on a base tape. CONSTITUTION:A preliminary process, such as corona discharge process and primer process, to improve adhesion with a metal evaporated film is, if needed, applied on a plastic base film 5-25mum thick of polyester, acetate, polycarbonate, etc. Next, a composite consisting of Ni by 0-30wt%, Cu by 0.5-12.0wt% and Co for the rest is put in a vacuum fussion furnace of the electron beam irradiation heating type and fuse it to make an ingot. Afterwards, a magnetizing metal evaporated film as thick as 0.3mum is coated on a running film-base tape within the same furnace with use of the ingot as an evaporating source. |
