A vial (1), particularly a glass vial, wherein the plane "Y" through the narrowest part of the neck portion of the vial obliquely crosses at an angle alpha with respect to the axis of the vial thereby to decrease the production of broken glass pieces and the entry thereof into the vial during cutting open of the vial. Apparatus and a method for manufacturing such vials are disclosed (Figure 8).
