Pneumatic tyres of the radial or girdle type is provided in the side walls with annular members which delimit the axial distension of the tyre under load and cause the side wall section adjacent the deformed tread section to be deformed axially along a radius of curvature which is smaller than the radius of the unstressed tyre. Tyre obtd. have a reduced coefficient of friction.
