Disclosed are a device for collecting traffic information and a method for providing traffic information using the same. The device for collecting traffic information comprises: an ACC sensing unit for receiving the state of operation from an adaptive cruise controller; a BSD sensing unit for receiving the state of operation from a rear alarming system; a GPS collecting unit for sensing the current location of a collecting vehicle; a driving speed sensing unit for sensing the driving speed of the collecting vehicle; a communication unit for transmitting the traffic information to a traffic information sever through wireless communications; and a collection controlling unit for checking the current location from the GPS sensing unit, sensing the current driving speed from the driving speed sensing unit, computing ACC operation frequencies based on the state of operation inputted from the ACC sensing unit, and computing BSD operation frequencies based on the state of operation inputted from the BSD sensing unit to transmit traffic information including at least one among the current location, driving speed, ACC operation frequencies and BSD operation frequencies to the traffic information server through the communication unit. The purpose of the present invention is to provide the traffic information collecting device capable of collecting the sensing state of adjacent vehicles while checking the driving speed at the current location while collecting traffic information. |
