<p>Novel cephalosporin compounds represented by the formula wherein . is an acylamino group and R' is for example phenyl or furyl, R'' is H CH3; or R is a substituted unreido group and R'' is H or CH3, R''' is e.g., C1-C3 alkyl; or is a cyclic unreido group, e.g., imidazolidine-2-one-1-yl and wherein R1 is phenyl, substituted phenyl, thienyl, or furyl; R2 is hydrogen or C1-C3 alkyl; with the proviso that R2 can only be hydrogen when R'' is hydrogen, and R can be a cyclic unreido group only when R2 is C1-C3 alkyl; are broad spectrum antibiotics exhibiting an expanded spectrum of activity vs. gram-negative microorganisms. These novel compounds are prepared by reacting a 7-(.alpha.-amino-.alpha.arylacetamido)-3-car-bamoyloxymethyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid with an appropriate ?-position side chain.</p> |
