PURPOSE:To make the manufacture easy and to obtain an MR type magnetic head with high resolution, by disposing a bias driving layer made of a high permeability magnetic material having conductivity in common for magnetoresistance effect (MR) element magnetic shield operation via an insulating layer. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic material layer 2 for shielding high permeability magnetic material a nonmagnetic insulation layer 7, an MR element 4 of ferromagnetic material such as Fe-Ni alloy, and a lead wire 5 of the element 4, are laminated in order on an insulating base 1. Next, a bias driving layer 11 such as conductive ''Permalloy '' and ''Sendust '' having high permeability is formed, an insulating material layer 7 and a bonding agent layer 8 are provided on it, and a holding plate 9 is bonded to make an MR type magnetic head. Thus, since the layer 11 acts like both actions of shielding and bias driving, the gap between the layer 11 and the MR element 4 can be decreased. |
