PURPOSE:To make roll changing possible without stopping operation by stopping the screw down action of the rolling stand requiring roll changing and at the same time selecting the rolling pass schedules permitting rolling of all required sizes of a rolling material in other rolling stands. CONSTITUTION:The rolls of a rolling stand having the five rolling stands 1-5 which are so set to permit rolling of the rolling pass schedules for all the required sizes of a rolling material are changed. First, the screw down action of the rolling stand 2 requiring roll changing is stopped; at the same time, the screw down is effected with a dummy rolling stand 10, and the rolling mill is continued of rolling operation still as a 5-stand tandem rolling mill. During this time, the rolls of the stand 2 are changed. |
