PURPOSE:To improve the durability of a developer by using a carrier contg. hydrophobic colloidal silica in the surface resin layer. CONSTITUTION:Iron powder as starting material is pulverized by means of a hammer mill to manufacture iron powder having a number of protrusions on the surface, tiny holes and high surface roughtness. This iron powder is coated with a soln. of alkyd resin in methyl ethyle ketone contg. hydrophobic colloidal silica in an amount equal to the amount of the resin. The resulting carrier holding exposed hydrophobic colloidal silica on the surface is mixed with toner powder to obtain a developer. |
