The invention relates to a method for operating a driver assistance system of a motor vehicle (K) by means of an operating device (1), wherein the operating device (1) is designed as a selector lever of a semiautomatic or fully automatic transmission, which selector lever can be moved in at least two shift gates (S1-S3), and one shift gate (S3) is used at least to operate the driver assistance system. According to the invention the shift gate (S3) used at least to operate the driver assistance system is used both to activate the driver assistance system and to initiate an operation of the driver assistance system and has a monostable design, said shift gate having at least one deflected position (A3.1, A3.2) away from a rest position (R3.1), wherein an operation of the driver assistance system is performed completely only if the selector lever (1) is held in the at least one deflected position (A3.1, A3.2) at least for the required duration of the operation. In this way, very intuitive and safe operation of the driver assistance system is possible. |
