PURPOSE:To improve the fluidity and developing characteristics of a toner as well as the melt stickiness to an apparatus, etc. by subjecting the surfaces of the toner particles to graft polymn. or graft condensation. CONSTITUTION:A pressure fixable magnetic toner is optionally treated with a silane coupling agent such as vinyltrimethoxysilane. It is added to a soln. of a styrene monomer and benzoyl peroxide in toluene, and the styrene is polymerized with stirring. The toner is centrifugally separated and dry-mixed with a small amount of hydrophobic colloidal silica to manufacture a modified toner. A toner component is required to have functional groups such as hydroxyl groups or carboxyl groups, and the component may be any of the toner components such as binding resin or magnetic powder. |
