In order to improve the heat utilisation in an open fireplace, a tube system (3) is arranged at the bottom of the open fireplace, which tube system (3) thus constitutes the base of the fire. By means of a fan (2), air is blown through the tube system (3) and is in this process warmed and emerges as hot air (4) into the room. The tube system (3) can also be raised laterally and at the back wall.
