The latch deadlock possesses a lock latch (1) which is connected, if appropriate adjustably, to a linkage (2) guided out of a rounded oblong lock case (3). The linkage (2) has a driving stop (15), behind which engages an intermediate lever (9) which is itself mounted on a sliding piece (6) displaceable by means of a key and carrying a stop (12) for the intermediate lever (9) and, in the blocking position, for the driving stop (15). A driver (13) arranged on a handle follower (14) engages on the intermediate lever (9). Finally, a stop (18) fixed to the case is provided for the driving stop (15) in its function as a blocking stop. This latch deadlock has a simplified construction in comparison with known latch deadlocks. It not only can be produced in a cost-saving way, but is also easy to assemble. Furthermore, it has a reliable mode of operation. <IMAGE>
