<p>The dryer comprises a horizontal, cylindrical drum fitted with track rings supported on rollers and turned by a driving motor. The interior of the drum is fitted with conveying blades which displace prod. through the drum when it rotates. A fixed, tubular duct extends coaxially through the drum. The drum has integral, exterior, hollow blades to conduct heat into the prod. when the duct is supplied with a heating fluid. The lower part of the duct contains the inlet ends of condensate extn. pipes. The upper part of the duct contains the inlet ends of extn. pipes for noncondensable gases etc. Pref. the exterior of the drum is encircled with a toothed driving ring. The central, tubular duct may contain a pipe for feeding into the prod. a liq. additive to be dried with the prod. each end of the drum is pref. closed by a circular plate fixed around the tubular duct.</p> |
