<p>Semi structural panel comprises a core layer of polystyrene covered on one face with a sheet of asbestos cement and on the other face with a layer of plaster. Pref. the core layer is surrounded by a frame of timber shaped to cover the edges of the plaster and grooved to locate a supporting metal angle rail. Other timber inserts to secure fastenings or clamps may be included. The core material is selected to provide a combination of thermal and acoustic insulation and to damp impact mechanically, so that a blow on one face, particularly an external face with the asbestos cement cover, does not cause the internal plaster cover to shatter.</p> |
